Our Counselors

Jess Cummings, MA (and 'Polly')
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
Children, Adolescents, Adults, Families
Jess graduated with an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University in December 2024. She's passionate about providing excellent mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families, particularly those impacted by disability. Advocating and providing psychoeducation to improve mental health outcomes in the disability community is an important tenet of her counselor identity as well.
Jess spent five years as a special education teacher working with children with visual impairments and another two years instructing visually impaired adults in braille literacy. In both settings, she witnessed unmet mental health needs in her students. Jess strives to be the counselor she could have consulted as a teacher. As a counselor, Jess is interested in approaches such as Disability-affirmative therapy (D-AT), creative expression modalities, interpersonal neurobiology, and the use of the polyvagal theory. Play therapy is another area of interest, particularly directive approaches, child-centered therapy, and how to best adapt these approaches to meet the needs of disabled clients. Jess loves holding space for client transformation; this is a privilege she does not take lightly. To learn more about Jess, visit our therapist spotlight feature on our blog/news page.

Judy Jagiello, PsyD
Licensed Psychologist
Adults
Even during the most difficult times in our lives, strength and fortitude can be found inside each and every one of us. Maybe you feel like you can manage your difficulties in life alone because you are strong enough or maybe you don’t feel you deserve assistance. If you are willing to participate, mental health therapy can be helpful in so many different situations. By clarifying what is most important in your life, I could help you navigate your troubles, whether you are adjusting to a new medical diagnosis, dealing
with chronic pain, dealing with anxious thoughts, feeling depressed, going through a big life change, or dealing with discrimination. While it is easy to feel broken when considering reaching out for help, I believe people are not broken. Rather we sometimes become stuck, and you and I can work together to figure out how to empower you to move forward. As a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am passionate about serving other Veterans and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as older adults. I also believe in equity for all, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and work toward cultural humility, especially when providing services to people with different cultures than majority/mainstream culture.
